How to delete a note in OpenOffice?
Issue: You are able to insert and edit a note in Open Office Writer, but not to delete it.
Yes, this sucks so much, I know. Even so much, that the authors of OpenOffice forgot to include a tutorial (in Help) on how to delete a note in OpenOffice!
Tutorial on deleting a note in OpenOffice:
1. Press F5 (navigator)
2. Click on "Notes" to open the Notes part
3. List of notes in the document should be displayed.
4. Click on the note you want to delete.
5. Press Delete key to delete a note in OpenOffice
6. Continue with the rest of the notes, if required.
Authors of OpenOffice need a usability training. Consider a donation.

You are all welcome. I have added this article about deleting note in Open Office, because I couldn't find the information easily.
I have dug this up burried somewhere.

Once I've deleted a note this way, it's quite obvious. Many thinks can be done using the navigator.
But your right, there should be a delete button in the note create / edit dialog....as it is in the index entry dialog.

In my case, I can't delete the note even after following the instructions! Pressing delete does not do anything neither right click, note -> delete!!!

Thank you for the tip! This one has been bugging me!

doesn't work for me, might be because the notes (comments in this case) were originally placed in word.

Thanks for the tip it was a big help. Too bad that the Navigator is so hard to find. It's explanation was buried int he Help section, too.
For those who had trouble deleting a note - try clicking on the desired note in the list provided by Navigator. I accidentally clicked outside the Navigator box and deleted text. When I figured out what I had done and put the text back I reclicked the note in question in Navigator and voila! No note. I think this should work on Word notes, too, because the note I was trying to remove was from a website and the note traveled with the text I was copying and pasting. I haven't tried on a "real" Word doc, yet, but am hopeful.

I followed the instruction but still couldn't delete the notes. Is there a known issue that if the original comments were added in Microsoft word, the notes/comments can't be deleted? I tried saving the same document to .odt. Still can't get rid of the notes. Could you please help? Thanks.

Man... having to google for a way to delete notes is not a good. Why not implement a simple option on right clicking the note...?
Still hope they correct this nuisance and keep improving OO.
Thanks for the tip and OO guys for developing the software.

Thanks for the tip, I hope there will be an easier way for this in the future. Or at least an entry in openoffice help...
I also encountered the problem where I couldn't delete notes from the navigator. The issue in my case was solved by accepting the changes at Edit / Changes / Accept or Reject Changes after deleting the note. :) (I had "record changes" enabled.)
And I had to google for that one too, since there was no visible hint at the deleted note, even when I had "show changes" enabled...

Thank you!!!!! I didn't even know that navigator thing existed

If you can see the note icon in navigator but the list is empyty when you click the + it means the note has no name, just click below the notes icon and you should be able to find a series of unlabeled entries. Count your notes and find the right one and delete it.

For the people who can't delete notes following this procedure - make sure you don't have 'track changes' enabled.

This was very helpful! (In the Mac, I couldn't use F5, but View -> Navigator got me there.)
I would love an easy way to strip all evidence of tracking and notes ...
