I am sure that publishers and recording companies are guilty as well, but Amazon is, too - they compromise on selling only to few selected countries instead of pushing publishers to either sell to any country or not to sell whatsoever (same goes to iTunes which stays closed to most of the EU countries).

Uh, no offence dude, but Amazon would love nothing mmore then to sell you MP3s, MP4s and a bucket full of nails if you'd buy it. It's all about legal restrictions the record labels put on sellers. Amazon was the first major retailer to sell it's MP3s completely DRM-free and would love to sell them everywhere. Unfortunatley, the music industry is a bloated land behemoth covered in greedy fat-cats and change has been painful. Still, some laws have been making progress and my guess is within the next year and a half (I know, that's a long time still) that you'll start to see downloads more widely available. Check out Digital7 too, they serve alot of european countries.

Of course, I know the problem is deeper and behind the scenes, but since Amazon is the largest online music and movie shop, they should be pressing the big labels to stop supporting piracy (i.e. start selling everywhere).

Special case is AmieStreet - independent shop selling indie bands and those small bands/labels acts totally stupid going against themseleves and lowering their sales. Unbelievable. Again, AmieStreet should press them to get rational.

I don't see that activity from any of the online shops and I don't see them publicly being sorry for their approach to their customers.

I don't think it's on the choice of these eshops if they allow selling in other countries, they just don't have license from record companies to sell it elsewhere

good article Dusoft, I agree. Problem is the law. I think, they want to sell this product overseas, but somehow they can't, because of law.
